The Impulse to Thrive
Have you seen a sprouting seed? Have you seen how it amazingly reaches out its first root downward followed by its first leafing upward? Note its movements, how strong its impulse to thrive is.
How about a baby chick hatching out of an egg, have you seen that on a video somewhere? There’s amazing strength there, pure and naturally intelligent. Again, the impulse to thrive.
We humans have the same capacity in our life force.
This impulse guides infants to know the right time to begin labor and find their way down the birth canal. It guides the embryo to find its way to implant in the nourishing wall of its mother’s womb.
This is how our DNA knows after conception how to divide in meiosis, such a critical process in laying down order at the beginning of a human life.
Whatever challenge we face, just as for the sprouting seed or the hatching chick, it is possible to access deep resources for thriving and resilience through the felt sense of our life force.
And this life force, our impulse to thrive, can be expressed through any clear intention arising through our bodies and our speech.
It takes learning, practice, of course. Bodywork plays its role in learning to feel more of ourselves through our senses. Movement helps in connecting new actions we can take.
Learning to shift attention from our challenges to our intentions is a way of changing focus from the imprints of past history to the Blueprint for order, inherent in our soma, our life force, in life throughout the planet.
It’s the Blueprint that carries the impulse to thrive through any adaptation when conditions change. The more we slow down enough to study how this lives in us the more we can integrate whatever new, wholesome, healthy way to live that we may look for.
Working with all of my clients, whether they come for craniosacral therapy for body pain, for healing from prenatal and birth trauma, or for coaching through other challenges, this is the underlying foundation throughout.
There is always the impulse to thrive, the Blueprint. Learning to live in alignment with it is the way forward!
